The Magna Charta Observatory has a Secretariat based at the University of Bologna.

The Secretariat shall consist of Secretary General Bastian Baumann and Administrator Carla Pazzaglia. The past Secretary General, Andris Barblan, acts as a consultant for specific projects.

The Secretary General was appointed by the Board of Directors after consultation with the Collegium.
