It is with much sadness that the MCO has learnt of the death of Professor Umberto Eco.
Philosopher, semiotician, expert in mass media, storyteller, he made a broad and distinguished contribution to academic life internationally over many years, including an outstanding contribution to the 25th Anniversary of the signing of the Magna Charta Universitatum which we propose you here.
All at the Observatory extend our condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.
He will be greatly missed.
