How can universities make a real difference in ensuring equitable access to higher education (HE)? One critical element is how students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—are prepared and supported even before they enter university. Institutions play a key role in working with schools, families, and communities to help students succeed academically, navigate their choices, and overcome cultural and structural barriers.
The next WAHEN seminar, "Supporting Low-Income, First-Generation & Marginalised Students to Achieve Their Potential: Best Practice from Across the World", will also mark the launch of our new global community: Supporting Higher Education Access and Success: How universities do this?
This new community will bring together professionals in higher education who collaborate with schools, colleges, and community groups to raise attainment, provide mentoring and outreach, and explore equitable admissions practices and financial support strategies.
